I’m back from Newcon and I thought I would share the stars of my table! (And welcome any new followers!
Don’t worry I almost never post things and when I do it’s like 5 things at once, but yeah really rare I promise.)
Hoothoot, of course, is my favorite of the bunch with Poliwhirl a close second.
Newcon was great! It’s still small but it’s already growing. It started turning a profit Day 1 which is really cool, and next year we’re at the Double Tree which means bigger venue, more panels, and a bigger vending hall!
The pathways were a little crowded this year, but all told I think it went well. I sold out of quite a few things (including the pokemon above), made friends with some cool folks (like Super Orange), and my table was across from Battlerobots (I love her art and I wish I had bought a print but I didn’t have room so I only got buttons).
All told, great weekend. Now excuse me while I take a 1 week break from crochet/knitting/etc. After 2 months nonstop work, I think I earned it :) … After I knit this santa hat that someone ordered after christmas???
Also I made a tentabulge for bootyshortscronus and it squeaked.
Yo! If you follow me you should know that I make things (as seen my art blog). And I happen to be selling those things at Newcon PDX Friday-Sunday!
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make enough hats this year to have any to show at the convention, but I was able to keep some of my new non-hat products squirreled away so that I will have some interesting show pieces and some nice debut items!
New products include pokemon, dragons, and likely some human figure dolls that I will be working on at the convention itself. (Miku. The human figure doll I’m making right now is Miku. But I have other things to make so I’ll be showing off at the convention by crocheting her clothes and giving her hair and such.)
The map attached shows my table, Table #2, which will be on the left side of the vendor hall when entering.
(Also the lovely Rastea will be across from me with some wicked prints, jewelry, and stickers, and technicolordreamgoat will be adjacent with equally wicked (though of a different variety) buttons and (I think) prints!)
PS: Tomorrow I will post a secret passphrase you can say to me to get a discount!
Come see me at Newcon! I will have some things that have yet to be posted to my art blog, and I must say I’m rather pleased :)
Here’s the full order that Ice King, Jake the Dog, and the Whale Shark were all a part of! (Shhh don’t mind Gunter, he’s a surprise!)
I sewed a zipper into the mouth of the whale shark with the intent of hiding Gunter in there, but I guess there’s a reason that whale sharks are filter feeders - he’s just got too much stuffing to fit a penguin in there too!
Whale Shark WIP (beside a poliwhirl for scale) & Completed
Part of a pretty big order, this guy took a few days to make (I had to go back and redo a LOT), but I think it was worth it!
Had to take the photos indoors because it’s raining and I’m shipping this out as soon as the payment hits my account so I wasn’t sure I would have time otherwise to take a photo. He’s 10 inches from nose to tail!
Adventure Time with Ice King and Jake the Dog!
Made on commission as part of a large order. Jake sits at about 4” tall (I won’t bother mentioning standing because his spindly legs can’t hold him up), while Ice King stands at 1’ (because his crown makes him feel tall).
I have no idea why Jake’s photo looks so blue. Really I don’t.
(And sorry for the radio science, I’ve been mostly making the same old things lately so there hasn’t been much cause to post. With holiday season things are picking up though!)
Fox-ear Tuks - 25$
To accompany the tuks I posted just moments ago, I also will be making fox-ear tuks! Ear-fluff is optional, but adorable.
I will make other animal tuks (such as cats and bees) on request for the same price.
Ear-hats - 20$
It’s the right time of year for hats, and I’m selling them in custome colors this fall. While the hats above each feature two colors, I will do up to 4 colors in a single hat (though my preference is, as always, for simplicity).
Note: Both of the above hats are spoken for, but I would be willing to make them in those colors again. Different patterns available but may incur extra cost of up to 5 dollars.
